You know you're obsessed when... by Revolution12 on 3 March 2008 7:01pm

...you're sitting in your Art History class, talking about ancient Rome, and when the professor mentions aqueducts, your mind immediately thinks "What have the Romans ever given us apart from aqueducts...". And then, to top it all of, he mentions, in reference to the Colosseum, the children's matinée.

Yeah...it was probably a combination of a complete and utter obsession with Monty Python and the fact that it was a Monday morning.

Oh I understand, that is why I am writing my "How Python Has Ruined My Life." ;-)

Wome, I mean Rome! A friend who is Native American turns that around and asks, "What has white man done for us?"

I wouldn't say Python has ruined my life, but it has put a damper on my social life, as I have yet to meet any other fans who are as obsessed as I am, and if I get talking about it, people look at me funny as they walk away. Frankly, given some of the people who used to be on John's site, I'm pretty temperate.

But yeah, quotes run through my head and spill out my mouth all the time. My daughter's starting to do it, too. Drives my husband nuts.

Yes, I am really writing that Mary. In between putting my foot in my mouth and possibly inventing a new political party without trying LOL!

Python has not ruined mine yet, but has certainly helped making a terrible fool of myself many times now. Two months ago, I am out for a walk in Milan with two men (and going to seduce one of them that very night). So I am chirping away intelligently and trying to impress. We turn round a corner and I see that street sign, "via Boskovitch". And immediately I start choking, sqealing and almost rolling over the pavement with a hysterical laughter. Because Inspector Muffin is there at once with his "Hah! Boskovitch is a Russian scientist who is passing information to the Russians" - and all the rest of this sketch which I really think just killing! The two men look at me in sheer astonishment, worry and fear, and I realize that if I do not present a plausible explanation, my chances will shrink (add here that my face has turned red and my perfect makeup is threatened by tears of laughter). But I go on choking and hardly squeeze out something like "I used to know someone of that name... he was very funny..."

Well anyway, later that man seemed to have found the explanation satisfactory...;-)

By the way: have you noticed that in the end of this sketch, when they greet Sergeant Duckie after his (adorable!) song, and Eric in drag (stunningly beautiful - and his manicure is perfect) appears on the left, Michael is wearing a huge lampshade over his head? I find this detail so mad and silly and near incomprehensible. Bloody genius!..

Tuscon, I'd love to see our stories in your book! There are threads on this message board full of stories of ruination...
