Help !! Marrakech - What to wear !! by grooovy on 17 June 2008 8:53pm

Hiya people :)

I'm a newbie, it's my first post, woo !

My boyfriend and i are visiting Marrakech soon, we're so excited :) The only thing that concerns me, is what to wear ! That may sound daft but i don't want to offend or upset anybody. It's going to be baking hot at the end of August, so it's going to be hard enough work to cover up my arms and legs anyway , let alone maybe from the prying eyes of Moroccan males, BUT if i have to i shall. ANY advice at all would be great. I've checked out many sites on the www but none are really useful on what to wear. TBH its got to the point where i'm checking out peoples holiday pics online, to see what they're wearing, or to see what the people in the background of the pics are wearing too, daft eh ! I want to enjoy my holiday, wearing whatever i choose to wear, but if its going to cause a stir by wearing a skirt or shorts, its not worth the hassle, but i'd like to be respectful too. I apologise for the super long post, but we'd also like to take a camel trek across the desert, stay over night in a tent and enjoy everything about the experience, but please does anybody have any idea how much these things cost !? I've looked on various sites too, and they vary so much in price, just would be great to have somebodies first hand experience.
Thanks everybody. Much love :)

Camel rides are about £10 a time. You'll be done a lot cheaper than that because of your unfortunate looks. Morrocan males are'nt any different from other males so feel free with your attire, I'm sure no-one will notice. But be careful, it's very hot.

We looooved Morocco and will go again, but we went in April and not in August.I was in Turkey when it was very hot & wore a very thin shawl over my close to cover up.

I think it is too hot in August for the desert, but it is more than worth it to do it and I HIGHLY recommend Les Nomades. Here is a clip from our trip with their info included:
