Charleroi by Blairhoyle on 25 September 2008 8:52am

I'm planning on heading to Montay, Northern France to visit my great grandfathers grave at the Selridge British Cemetery.

Now I have been asking around about how best to get there. The advise is to fly to Charleroi in Belgium then hire a car and drive into France.

Only problem is, after checking, it looks like Charleroi is on the east side of Belgium and not in the South, which was what I first thought.

Can anyone shed anymore light?

Have you tried Google Earth? Or any other map source? There is lots of help like that. I'm not familiar with either place, myself.

Charleroi is pretty close to the French border - about 30km as the crow flies. You could also try Lille (France). I think it has direct train connections to the UK, though it might be a little further from your destination.

I would need to get the train in London if I was to get the train across. Thats an 8 hour drive from where I live.
