Using the site. by johnnythemonkey on 13 December 2008 12:19am

I notice that people often refer to the previous post as 'the one above'. I use the site so that it displays the newest message in a post first and previous posts below it. I find that easier to use. To change your settings, just go to 'using the site', then 'edit your details'. There's a little check box that you can click to display the latest message first.

You are a bunch of numpties for not already knowing that. :)

Chatmarks work just fine for me.

I don't use chatmarks, I just go to the thread so the previous mnessage IS the one above:) I like keepin' things simple:)

I was'nt talking about chatmarks you numpties. I was talking about how a thread is displayed when you go to it. Example: if you're reading this, the post from smartarse kazzzz should be below it, mrsthing's below that and my original post below that !
Got it ?

Useful information jtm but I've been using Kazzzz's method for so long I'd confuse myself if I changed.

Um seems the old traditional way is preferred Johnny. Who's the smartarse now?

Chatmarks are the simplest for me. I'd be wading through a gazillion threads if I didn't. Takes wayyyyy too long. Initally, all you see is the newest postings you've not yet read. After that, everything shows up in case you forgot what was being discussed. Thank goodness they have them on this site.

Oh, BTW, I use Johnny's way. It is by far the best, in my opinion and the very reason someone with a lot of intelligence ahs created chatmarks to begin with. A real time saver and. Chatmarks and position. The day I found all that out was the best ever. When you click on Chatterbox, you see instantly if anyone has posted something IN ANY CATEGORY or ANY THREAD of a category since you were here the last time . No need to look at each thread individually. I can't understand why one would want it any other way.

Once I was gone for weeks and when I came back, all that showed were the threads written since I left. Chatmarks keeps me from seeing things more than once and helps me to skip subjects and content of things of no interest to me as well. (Which is sometimes quite a lot. Sorry guys!) HAHAHAHAHA)

Chatmarks gives me a list of active threads, a list of all the posts I haven't read yet, and when I click on a thread title, it takes me directly to the most recent post in the thread, so I don't have to page through and read old stuff. I love it!

Yes Judy, you are using the site in a sensible way.....unlike the numpties. :)

I agree. Why have the old stuff there too and threads that aren't being used anymore. It's not a tidy way to go about using the site.
