Overseas mail by kazzzz on 29 December 2008 7:18am

NOT happy, some Christmas mail has not turned up here despite being posted well before Christmas. These include parcels from Ray's Mum, cards (a couple from Palinites) and a plaque from a friend in London which did get here but was in pieces deespite being very well packed. It's so disappointing.
:(

Sometimes people miss the last posting date for Christmas and sometimes the sorting office is so busy it takes longer to get the mail to you. If you haven't got your items within 2 weeks then it would be time to start investigations.
~
A funny story:- My wife took our overseas Christmas cards to the Post Office in October for posting by surface mail to Canada. When she came out she realised that she had sent them airmail. Our friends in Canada were first to get their Christmas cards - at the end of October!

Well Ken one time Tony sent us a parcel from Yorkshire and it arrived here 4 months later, we thing it went sea instead of air.

Not QUITE the same, but it is overseas so what the heck!!

As one of my husband's Xmas pressies I ordered from a firm in the US a tie with Tosun's pic on it. (I had also bought him a Zippo lighter with Tosun's image on from another firm).

It didn't arrive before Xmas so I emailed them yesterday.

Today I got a reply that they hadn't been able to verify my credit card (which had been alright for other purchases!) and that an email had been sent out on 10th Dec. I didn't get it.

Now I'm cross because it was one of my fave presents for him this year (that and the lighter).

Oh well, it'll have to be next Xmas (for his birthday in April (his 60th) I am buying him a lesson driving a steam train!)

I'm impressed with the service. Four day airmail to or from UK. Ten days to or from Germany parcel post.

Now that's interesting, Pete, about the time taken for overseal mail. I have a couple of overseas correspondants.

My local councillor sent me a Christmas card in October. He's on my side, and maybe this got that job done, but it's time he retired.

Kazzzz, your post does seeem to let you down. I remember the saga of Mr.P's 65th birthday card going astray from Australia to new Zealand.

I hope your stuff turns up!

Yes, Anne, there's always another significant birthdfay/anniversary coming up at Our Age!

How many times has it come round, then, Anne? (Ooooh, the bitchiness!)

- mine has, nearly 5 times- wish I'd had the parties when I was young!

I ordered something for Mr. Thing on December 4, got an email on the 17th saying it had shipped on the 15th, and found out via the tracking number that it had been delivered to Tucson AZ on the 12th--apparently 3 days *before* it shipped. Turns out their email was screwed up, and it WAS delivered to Arizona. They cheerfully refunded me my money and put in a new order and told me it would arrive on JANUARY 20! I said it was their screw-up, they should overnight the item to me. They said, "I'm sorry ma'am, that's not how our systems work." I asked to speak to a manager, and they said no one was available. I sarcastically said that that was probably why their place was so screwed up, and that I'd NEVER place an order with them again! The only reason I did it in the first place was that I'd been searching in vain for the kind of slippers Mr. Thing wanted, and that was the only place that had them.

So--DON'T order from OnlySlippers.com!
