We can spell our governor's name again! by mrsteabag on 30 January 2009 1:56am

Rod B. was unaninmously 1) convicted by the Senate 2)kicked out of office and 3) barred for good and this life from ever holding public office in IL again. His "closing argument" amounted to a 45 minute hissy fit reiterating ad nauseum his talk show routine. Is there a Numpty of the Year committee I can pass his name to, or do I disgrace numpty-ism by suggesting this?
Gov. Quinn is ready to rock and roll starting tomorrow morning. Our state is in a horrific mess financially; the parties were at loggerheads with each other; and there's a lot of legislative gridlock. We are ready,as they say in Holy Grail, to GET ON WITH IT!

Rock n'Roll, mrsteabag!! I thought this delicious piece of news would please you.But then of course, you can't go trying to sell Senate seats "to the nearest bidder.." What will Mr.Blag.... do NOW? If he's so tele-friendly,he might try to blag his way to persuading some (crazy) TV producer to give him his own Talk Show, then he could go head-to-head (as they say) with Oprah.

In the UK,we currently have our own scandal in the House Of Lords;apparently some Lords, according to the SUNDAY TIMES,have (allegedly) been touting for freebies.MMmmm....it's rather tame compared to the daring of your Mr Blag.... :))

Lucky you, Fran. Illinois can get back to business, and the ex Gov can go into the Governors Wing of Terre Haute Federal Prison. If he doesn't like bologna sandwiches, too bad.

Well, dear ones, let me tell you that there's nothing like charges of shaking down a children's hospital and a major newspaper while selling a senate seat to galvanize a splintered legislative system.
As far as what he'll do next? Well, yes, more media appearances are a possibility. What's really ironic is that since he's not been convicted in a court of law, he can get his lawyer's license reinstated--how scary is that?
But...as predicted, Gov. Quinn and the House and Senate got busy...on ethics legislation, I believe...:)
