Thank you, Mr Rudd! by Miss-M on 4 February 2009 4:21am

As part of the Australian Government's $42 billion stimulus package, Prime Minister Rudd is handing out one-off cash bonuses to boost the economy. I will receive $950. Yay!! :)

Not necessarily Missy, the opposition are blocking it. I would also get a payment for Ava. The opposition will at least delay if not cancel it altogether.

Hmmm, I heard that after I created this thread. Bloody opposition. Do they have to oppose EVERYTHING just because they are the opposition? Mo fos.

Missy, that is the way politics works. It is the art of the possible.
In the first book John Cleese wrote with his therapist Robin Skynner, they had a chapter called "Politics and Paranoia." They thought (and I cannot disagree), most politicians were attracted to politics by something they were paranoid and hot about.
In the American South between 1877-1970, for many politicians, the paranoia was keeping the black man in his place (with help from the Ku Klux Klan if needed). Winning elections depended on "out segging" your opponent.
(Out segging meaning saying your opponent was too soft on blacks having rights). You want paranoia in politics, there you have it. Northern Ireland, another prime example.

Well, still, here's hoping that Miss-M in Oz and canaveralgumby in the States BOTH get a check, eh? :^) Who are they kidding? Our "stimulus" checks will go toward debt, utility bills, medical bills and food.

There have been criticisms saying that the money should be put into our failing infrastructure.
Well, they should do that as WELL surely????

I hope you get the cash, lasses. Your good Kevin is doing good things, i feel, without knowing too much about him - he just seems to have the 'right' priorities for you all.
