Shoe thrower gets thrown in prison by bIG bLOGGER on 12 March 2009 3:39pm

Journo Muntazer al-Zaidi has been sentenced to 3 years' jail for throwing his shoes at President Bush.
Excessive?

He was sentenced for missing, right? ;-)

Yes it was VERY excessive in my humble opinion. Though I am not condoning his behaviour.

Very droll, Judy!!

:)

Maybe 15 minutes on the naughty step? I am with him on the why behind it, and with Judy, but I'd be more concerned about someone else getting hurt.

I agree with all of you.

I believe someone tried it on with Gordon Brown recently but it didn't get much publicity, and I do hope our police didn't over-react.

Thrown in jail? He should have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

A year and a half per shoe? LOL! Yes, and you are right Judy, that was for missing! What would he get for hitting them? I had the BBC America news on last night, and you get the feeling, there may be major problems if he is not released.
He can't get the Nobel Peace Prize Missy, no matter how you feel about the targets, throwing the shoe was a violent act.

Disgraceful sentence.
I rewatched the clip of the incident yesterday and watched Bush as he grinned and announced how he didn't care. Just shows his mentality doesn't it? He should have cared because Shoe man's actions was representative of millions of people, and how they feel about him and what he's done to our world. Pathetic individual. In my books Bush will go down as one of history's worst war criminals.

Attempting to injure a world leader is a serious offense, no matter who the world leader is or whether or not he deserves a bean on the noggin with one or more shoes. I thought the shoe thrower got off pretty lightly, tbh.

Re: Shoe thrower gets thrown in prison by kazzzz on 14 March 2009 1:53pm

But why is it more serious to try an injure a world leader rather than anyone else?
If I hurled a shoe at let's say Johnny (haha) I deffo wouldn't get three years in the slammer.

*hurls shoe at Johnny*
