Fraud Alert

Phishing is going low-tech. Now we're getting automated phone calls with a voice telling us that an attempt has been made to access our account, and that the account has been "frozen". Then they say we have to enter the 16-digit ATM card number and the PIN to reactivate the card and secure our account. It's all automated, no live people involved.
I don't know if this happens in other parts of the world or in other parts of the US, but I thought I'd post it just so you can beware. No bank would ever ask you for this information via an automated phone call if your account had been hacked.
If it happens, report it first to your local police, and then to the bank.
What clued me in was getting the call at 10pm on a Sunday night of a holiday weekend. Very odd time to get a call from a bank. |

Oh how awful!! It's hard to imagine anyone falling for that but I suppose some people would or they wouldn't bother. Did you report it to the police, Judy? What did they say? Despicable. |

I'd pay 2 grand just for the pleasure of your company.
If you believe that, you'll believe anything. :) |
