Only in America

1. Only in America......can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance.

2. Only in America......are there handicap parking places in front of a skating
rink.

3. Only in America......do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back
of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes
at the front.

4. Only in America......do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a
diet coke.

5. Only in America......do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens
to the counters.

6. Only in America......do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the
driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.

7. Only in America......do we use answering machines to screen calls and then
have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to
in the first place.

8. Only in America......do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in
packages of eight.

9. Only in America......do we use the word 'politics' to describe the process so
well: 'Poli' in Latin meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning 'bloodsucking
creatures'.

10. Only in America......do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille
lettering.

If this thread had been posted by me then people would presently be screaming their heads off.

Isn't it interesting the way that people approach humor. It's a fine line between laughing at something and being offended by it.

This forum is absolutely fascinating.

That's a riot! I must say I am guilty of number (7. Only in America......do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to
in the first place.) It's mainly due to telemarketers' annoying calls. Also, we have too many people and not enough phones in our house. It's much easier to view the caller ID and yell up the stairs to a teenager, "It's for you," than to play secretary! Also, due to the fact that the teenagers spend hours on the phone at times, we need call waiting and voicemail in case someone needs to leave a message. Not to mention the two cell phones and DSL. yeesh! America the WIRED!

I like the driveup ATMs with braille -- Actually, I thought of doing a rap tune in sign language the other day -- I think it would be a big hit!

i suppose it depends on how you say things my dear . you never made it clear until a later post you were not serious when you called us a group of middle age women .
i was going to change it to ireland as it is not so bad to mock you own country but i posted that in the morning . i was not meant to be online and had no time to change it . i realised what i posted may have caused offence which is why i explained myself at the start . therefore it seems like i did'nt cause any offence .i would rather over explain things then have my meaning misunderstood . thats just me i know your opinion is different . it would be borgin if we were all the same :0)
peace
Linda
p.s i love the idea of the rap song in sign language :0)
