Today's UK Budget

It's a good one and a lot of the billions of pounds deficit will be recovered by it. It is also going to catch more of the con artists who are claiming benefits and shouldn't. VAT is up to 20% which is easier to work with than 17 1/2 %. |

Yes Ken, there's nothing like a good Tory budget to give the the poor and needy the kick up the arse they need to accept their place in the world.
The same scrounging needy have the nerve to try to push the blame for our deficit onto our banking industry which has brought great happiness and wealth to our country.
I'm trying hard to encourage my girls to enter the noble financial sector, rather than their heritage of industry or public service.
I also tell them that if they see someone in a wheelchair, give them a kick in the legs to see if they are one of those scroungers that my new shiny government tells me about.
Yes Ken, tax the poor and the unintelligent who think VAT should be a nice round number.
Ken do you realise that you ( I assume ) pay basic rate tax at 25% but also N.I. contributions of 11 %, whilst the wealthy pay tax at 40% but their N.I. contribution falls to 1 % ?
My earnings never crossed the 40% threshhold but it wouldn't have bothered me to pay that extra 5% on what was over £ 200 per overtime shift. |

I didn't know about the 1% N.I. for the wealthy, jtm, but looking at the figures the tax burden on the wealthy is 41% and the lower paid 36%, still slightly in favour of the lower paid but perhaps not enough. I'm sure that the poor are more of a burden on the NHS because of their poverty so perhaps their NHS % contribution should be higher. The wealthy also may use private health care more than the NHS so their burden on the NHS is less.
Something tough had to be done to start to recover the country's debt. |

Ken, I know that you are an ordinary working guy like me, so where do you get your views ?

No ya numpty, their poverty should be alleviated to prevent their ill health !
Are you on the same planet as me ? |
