Gt-SpursNan-to be (again) by Spursfan on 23 June 2010 10:56am

Yes, our Grandaughter Sophie is expecting her second baby; she is about 10 weeks.

In a way, we are disappointed (but not surprised). Disappointed because now Bethany is 2 Sophie was getting a college course together etc., and getting a career going. This will have to be put on hold now - 2 babies under 3, say no more!!

Also (though obviously now he or she are on the way we want everything to be ok and they will be much loved by (at least our side of) the family) we don't really agree with the pregnancy as neither Sophie nor her (sometimes violent) partner are working!!

Sophie is really struggling with 'morning' sickness this time!

I know how she feels as with our first baby (her Mom!) I had sickness right through to labour!

I have suggested a plain dry biscuit before she puts a foot on the floor in the morning and she has also tried ginger biscuits and mints but to no avail.

She is thinking of going to her GP for something - but in the meantime has anyone got any remedies that worked for them that I can pass on to her?

:)

Chamomile tea, or ginger tea--not the biscuits. Not that I've been down that road myself, but from what I know about herbs, that might help. Or a combo of equal parts fennel, chamomile, ginger and mint--do an infusion of it (like regular tea, only in a glass jar and let it steep for an hour). Drink a cup upon opening her eyes.
Another thing which may help are wristbands made for motion sickness. There's an acupressure point near the pulse that helps to calm nausea.
Hope this helps--give her our best. :)
