Ok, own up! Which one of you was it?!! by Spursfan on 3 September 2010 8:40pm

As you know your name is Ian !!

Just watched Mastermind - and the specialist subject of one of the contestants was....'The Travelogues of Michael Palin'!!

He was beaten to 1st place by just one point.

Oh and there was also a chap whose specialist subject was Stamps of the Nineteenth Century - but it wasn't Ken!!

:D

I was going to post on that Anne! I think I only got a couple of the 'Michael' questions correct.

Maybe Kisch should have a go. :)

Are ye joking? The Travelogues of Michael Palin is a category on Mastermind? Has Magnus Magnusson lost the plot entirely? Is he even still hosting it? See I would be useless on Mastermind. I'd ask more questions than give answers.

But seriously, I love the Palin travelogues, but a category on Mastermind? Maybe there's a youtube video of it and I am juding too harshly!

"What was Michael carrying...." BEEP BEEP BEEP

"I've started so I'll finish..."

"...in his left trouser pocket as he crossed the bridge in a jeep into the Kalash Valley?"

" A mars bar?"

"Correct!"

Yep, they could be very difficult questions I suppose!

LOL Loretto ! Michael's travelogues is a worthy subject for Mastermind compared to many others.
Btw, Magnus snuffed it three years ago and the show is now hosted by John Humphrys. ( good broadcaster and interviewer. )
A lot of people think the show has been dumbed-down and the low point was a specialist subject about Jennifer Aniston. There have been far worse....like soap operas etc.
I like to pit my general knowledge against the contestants but I can't really be fair to myself. Unless I answer the question before the contestant, I can't 'award' myself a point, even though it's easy to say " I knew that one".

I still find it an enjoyable show to watch. ( I can show Meg how clever this non-achiever really is ) :)

They seemed to have stopped, in this series, the annoying bit when each contestant comes up for the 2nd round of questions and John Humphreys asks them about their interest in their specialist subject. Just get on with the questions!!

I find it frustrating when they answer questions on a particular series of books, or an author, that I haven't read, or something similar. You haven't a hope in hell of answering!!

One of my favourite subjects was on the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, my favourite painters! I could answer quite a few!

Yes - the travelogues was a good subject and I thought the chap did well.

He MUST be a Palinite, surely!!

;)

I saw this too and was disappointed for the chap. I usually watch Mastermind. Wasn't the girl who won it on University Challenge last series?

I watched an episode ages ago and the subject was quantum physics and I outscored the contestant.
His name was Stephen something or other. ;)

I just downloaded it and watched it and I couldn't give the answers to 3 questions (one of them I didn't understand, and other two I couldn't remember quick enough). So there. What a shame.
