Google Earth by Loretto on 1 March 2012 3:07pm

Hey guys, have any of you checked out google earth recently? I decided to type in my home place address in Ireland. Last time I did this the picture was like some thing from a 1980's computer game. I was absolutely shocked at the definition in the newest google earth images (2010)

Here's where I grew up.....

Which field was yours ? ( you asked for that. ) ;)

The streetview thing is amazing.

The one marked...Paddy McField.....you asked for that.

Yes it is amazing. Check out Perth, Australia at street level. Unbelievable. I checked it out because the mag in Australia that I get articles into is based in western Australia and a journalist from Ireland wrote an article about the Irish in Perth.

Indeed it is a remarkable tool for potential visitors, or those who just wants to see where a friend is. I used it to look down on Puerto Vallarta, quite extensively using streetlevel view, and when I was there, I seemed to know the place.

I did that before I went to Paris a few years ago and felt like a local by the time I got there !

I couldn't find my posting about non-Google websites. I poked around a little and started using dogpile.com .

Here is an article by an ex-Google employee talking about the Google management hierarchy and how Microsoft could make changes to improve their productivity, the quality of life for their employees, etc.:
http://no2google.wordpress.com/

He makes some good observations about management structure that could benefit any large workplace.

I'm not sure about the new version, I haven't seen it, but on the old version you could clearly see a yellow post it note stuck on my friend's window in Dalston, London!

I love Google Earth, but I prefer Google maps. On Google maps you can actually go into street level and walk around. I actually took a random walk around Northern Ireland and found a hairdressers with my name on it. I also managed to walk around Dawlish, my favourite seaside town.

John you're not far off the mark there , as 99% of my clothes are purple AND we live right near a paddock where a mob of roos live.
I prefer an atlas!
