Foreign Food by Angel on 12 December 2002 3:32pm

In light of my delicate stomach and hatred of salads, anyone have advice on what not to eat in foreign parts ?!! worst foods??

Depends what you call foreign. One man's meat is another man's poison and all that. However, goats entrails, sheeps eyes or monkey brains are probably not the best thing for a delicate consitution!!

I'm sure MP has had to stomach a few rather gory meals that he'd rather not have eaten! Wichety grubs though? That's beyond the pale!

What's the weirdest food u have eaten?? Mine is an experience in Singapore where I was given chicken entrails .....and the feet and the head all nicely boiled to a skeleton. Glad it didn't have the eyes in the head tho. Yum yum...? (not!)

Ever tried the Durian fruit from the far east? Stinks like dog poo or as if something crawled into a cave and died, but it tastes really nice (if you can hold your nose!)

Surely you should be asking what you SHOULD eat rather than what NOT to???

Go where the locals go would be my best motto....!

well, I have a disease which means I cannot eat many foods, Haggis being a nono and favourite being Turkish Delight! I cant look at fish without freaking out and I like Cows! tomato soup and curries (mild) and French food all nice. But not many things which once had a face. oh dear I sound pathetic...I cook a mean soup!! :)All this and I wear a leather jacket... I like suede ... enough to make ones head throb with furious morals pounding it!!

You say you have a disease? Is that Krohn's? I have a friend who has Krohn's and has to be careful what she eats. She had an operation a year ago to remove part of her large intestine to try and alleviate the situation.

Probably not the sort of thing you want to hear when you're trying to sort out what food u can eat!!

Cheese is always good (must admit I don't like smelly ones like goats cheese or blue cheese). Pizza / pasta dishes are always good options. Except I'm on a carb free diet at the mo, so pasta/rice/bread products are no good for me!

I had the Chinese equivalent of "beans on toast" when I was in Singapore - stewed sweet potato and plain rice. My tastebuds nearly shrivelled!

I must admit I was vegan for a while which made eating a real challenge (dining out usually meant baked potato and bakedbeans) which kind of took away the thrill of going out to eat. Turned omnivore again after a couple of years as I missed chicken chocolate and cheese!

Do eggs have faces??? (not the ones u paint on).

erm. human (or other) placenta is a guaranteed BARF zone. Yep forgot Crohn's doesn't like dairy. In fact Crohn's is a pretty stroppy kid as sometimes it tends to play up. Usually least when u want it to. Glad I haven't got it but I can sympathise with u as my friend has a tough time with it. Have u had op to remove bits of your intestine?

Lucky me, I can eat almost anything (except onions or coriander). One makes me spew and the other involves the other end of my body!

Is placenta the grossest thing u can think of???!! How's about tiger's penis? It's a delicacy in China (apparently). supposed to make u virile. Reminds me of MP's Sahara show where a sacrified goat's gonads were given to the kids who used them as whoopie cushions!
