Aaaiii! Babysitting! by notquitenglish on 22 July 2004 1:02am

Lord help me, I'm in charge of my neice and nephew for an entire week! My sister and her husband are going to Mexico and DID THEY ASK ME IF I WANTED TO WATCH THEIR CHILDREN? they did not. Sydney is a snot, entering her bratty teenaged years with the added difficulty of being blond and popular (for no known reason), and Cameron, once one of the sweetest little boys ever born, has become eleven and violent and loud and annoying and very, very, very interested in Star Wars and Spiderman and video games. That's all he'll talk about. Plus the main rule is no tv before six o'clock at night, and they think that if they ask every five minutes I'll change my mind.... its not even *my* rule, its their *parents*! Aaaaaaaaaagggghhhhh!!!!

Sorry.
*shrugs and gives a sheepish grin*

I sympathise but remember that uncles, aunts, grans and grandas usually bend the rules a little while baby sitting - that is why nephews and neices like them so much and their behaviour can be surprising.

I take it that's why you left me in the chatroom alone with no warning notquitenglish?

Actually, Tom, the phone rang and that automatically cuts off the Net. Sorry about that....

Sure, sure. =D well, good luck with looking after them - as a musician, I'm regarded as unreliable and irresponsible.

But me being a bass player cancels all that out, so it's Catch 22. =D

sounds like you are going to have fun for a whole week - why no tv before 6pm?? isnt that when the childrens tv is on?? thought that what came after 6pm was the worst for teenagers to watch!! GOOOD LUCK!!

but if you make a rule stick by it !!

why does the phone cut off the net - with dial up you should just get engaged signal and with broadband it doesnt matter cos they both work together??

Not everybody has "engaged signal" Lyn. I don't.

There's a funny commercial about a guy who's babysitting 2 kids & he takes them all over the place to wear them out -- treadmill at the gym, digging in sand at the beach, running up & down hills at a park, a quick shot of ice cream & then back to the same places. When the parents come to get the kids at the end of the day, the kids are just wiped out!
