10 meter air rifle by intrepid on 16 August 2004 3:53pm

The Czechs have struck bronze in the women's version of this event. Beats me how any normal sized man or woman could accurately aim a rife which is that long.
Czech Television 2 also treated us to a commentary by a Mr. Michal Palinek, but I don't remember what even he was commenting on.

Way to go! I had no idea there was such an event, but a medal's a medal.

..seems as tho' there should be a joke there somewhere as in "How many women does it take to aim a 10 meter air rifle?"...and no, I do not have a proper response as yet! agree with George that a medal is a medal...and who is impersonating Michael on Czech TV?

How many does women does it take to aim a ten meter air rifle? First, set up a committee and have them go shopping. Then, ....

*smirks*

That was clever. Probably the cleverest thing I've read all day. :D

Ok, I must have seen Michal Palinek commenting on the Women's Beach Volleyball. Here's what I found out about him, other than that he's a volleyball player:
He's six feet three inches, he's from Prerov, CZ, but he lives in Zvole now, and his overall winnings are $104,763, presumably from volleyball. His birthday was last Tuesday! He's 37.
I wonder if he knows Jan Klis...

By the way, our medalist's name is Katerina Kurkova, so if you see her, tell her "Congradulations", and don't do anything to make her angry.

If you were impressed by somebody being able to accurately fire a 10 meter air rifle, then you'll want to take your hat off for Lenka Hykova, also Czech, who successfully manipulated a 30 meter PISTOL for a silver. Better yet, let her demonstrate her marksmanship by removing your hat for you. -David

Well, it's nice to know that the Czechs can get Olympic medals without resorting to gunplay. Jaroslav Volf and Ondrej Stepanek slalomed (Hebrew word?) their way to bronze in a canoe. Tip your oars to Marek Jiras and Tomas Madev, for their achievement, too.

Hey, a medal's a medal. An American just won a gold medal in sword fighting for the first time in 100 years. Anything's possible. Go Czechs!
