Michael's Australian Tour by Webmaster on 13 January 2003 6:57pm
Hello everyone,

Just a quick one to alert you to Michael's upcoming journey to Australia - the following are his confirmed book signings while there. Michael will also be giving (largely sold out) talks and lectures in both Australia and New Zealand, as well as making a number of radio appearances.

Tuesday 28 January
ABC Shop, Melbourne, between 1:30-2:30pm

Thursday 30 January
ABC Shop, Chatswood, Sydney, between 7-8:30pm

Friday 31 January
A&R Bookshop, Pitt Street Mall, Sydney, between 1-2:30pm

Monday 10 February
ABC Shop, Perth, between 12:30-2pm

And, for those of you in Canada and the USA, you too will have your turn! Michael's North American mini-tour is on the near horizon...

Whatwhatwhat? He was on the Today Show? The American Today show??? I'm so confused?

No notlob you silly sausage
Australia has its own Today Show too.
What makes Americans think they're the only ones in the world with a TV show Called Today Show
The(Channel 9) bit should have given it away or is the US Today show also on Channel 9?

I went to a literary lunch Mike did for Full Circle I think. After getting him to sign the book and leaving I remembered I had just bought a Monty Python calendar as a birthday present for someone and went back to the end of the line to get that signed as well. He looked at me kind of funny in a sort of Haven't I just seen you before look but signed it Happy Birthday anyway. Just before I got the calendar signed there were these two attractive women talking to him about having seen him perform onstage live before Python at Oxford or somewhere and he was being very gracious about it all.

CONFUSED to webmaster
My wife rang to get me tickets to a literary dinner Mike is supposed to be doing in Sydney. The details are as follows
Michael is doing a literary dinner in Sydney on 29 Jan. You can get tickets and obtain more information
by ringing
8223-1145 if you live in NSW.
But from the Webmasters message it looks as if Mike will be in Melbourne on the 29th. Perhaps they announced the dates wrong on ABC radio. Will have to wait till I get confirmation of ticket to know what date it really is

Thanks for explaining eroomnala! I was really confused, I would've been really upset if I had missed it! And thanks for telling us about your experience! I think you should try to contact the webmaster via email in case he/she doesn't read this post!

Might do that sometime soon but I might wait till I get confirmation first. I've rung the number again but this morning no one answered and this afternoon it's always engaged.
Another experience I forgot to mention when Mike did his last Sydney booksigning
[see photos (scroll down a bit on link)
was that it was sort of outside the Angus and Robertson bookshop in Pitt St. Mall Sydney. Just as he was about to start signing books a small brassband of schoolkids started playing their instruments and marched past in front of the bookstore. Mike looked a bit puzzled wondering if the brass band was connected with the book signing in any way. It wasn't.

the first photo where he's got his hands in the air and I'm getting him to sign the Margolis Biography (red hardcover book) of him is where he explained that it didn't tell the whole story and just after that he signed it "A bit of..." Michael Palin [book title]
