South Africa by KELLY_B on 1 December 2004 5:47pm

I'm planning to go to South Africa in July 2006 to complete a yearlong Safari Field Guide course. I want to stay there an extra couple of months to do a bit of travelling - does anyone have any suggestions as to where I should go? I'm thinking about crossing into Namibia and/or Zimbabwe also - any ideas?

I hear what you're saying Godfather but the country is too beautiful to miss. I believe the Western media hype up the situation to the point of scaremongering....besides I can't visit Southern Africa without seeing Victoria Falls!

Yes you are quite right. I was there last week and the view from the Zimbabwe side is the best. Only problem is the hastle going throught immigration on the other side of the bridge. It was a little window. You had to hand your passport over and fill in a yellow form. They write your visa on a piece of paper. Then stamp your passport, then the bit of paper and a the piece of card. This costs $55 if you are British or $30 of you are American. They dont like is Brits do they. After all this a lady checked the visa, a man looked at the piece of cardboard and threw it in a box and another man looked very closely at our passports. i thought we were going to fall at the final hurdle but all was well and we were let in. All this for a few hours to view the falls. It was another $20 to get into the falls park. It was all worth it because of the view.
