New Hampshire by Stern on 27 April 2005 7:56pm

Hi,
I actually just wanna tell you that my Dad visited me in America last weekend. I am in Rhode Island and since the state is not very big (in 1 hour you can drive across the state) we were wondering what to do on Sunday.

We decided to go to New Hampshire because the landscape is so different to Rhode Island and the Appalachian Mountains are just beautiful. So we drove first of all the 93 north until we reached New Hampshire. From there we changed to city streets and routes. so we drove route 3 for a while until we reached the largest lake in New Hampshire, lake Winnipesaukee.
When you are there it doesn't really matter where you're driving to as long as you are staying at the lake because it is very beautiful and the chance of taking good pictures changes with the view evry few meters. The lake is surrounded with mountains and if you want to you could even drive on top of the White Mountain. But make sure it will be a sunny day or you can't enjoy the view.
As we drove to New Hampshire on Sunday it was raining the whole morning and we almost wanted to turn around as the sun came out. So we saw New Hampshire with rain, fogg and sunshine. It will take you a whole day to do this trip but it is definetly worth it.

On our way back we even found some little shops along the road to buy nice souvenirs and rather uncommon and very interesting stuff. There's also an antiques shop after the Mills Falls close to the lake which sells in a neighbor shop (same owner) old metal posters with John Wayne and I love Lucy. I haven't seen those before (i mean the different images on the posters) and I even found a Holy Grail metal poster with one of my favourite sentences "Run away! Run away!" and a pic of the killer rabbit. I didn't buy it but it was really awesome. And it was the only one in the entire shop. Maybe I'll regret it one day that I didn't buy it but the trip was wonderful anyway.
So maybe you're in the region one day. If you are, don't forget New Hampshire. The state is not very big either but it is worth a stop even if it's just for a day. And maybe you take the chance and buy the poster. lol.

Hope you have a lot of nice trips,
Silke
