Helen-a little OT by pollyanna199 on 2 May 2005 4:34pm

I was thinking last night, I really don't know a lot about Helen, Michael's wife. Does anyone know where she went to college and what she got her degree in, and what jobs she has had? Or has she been a stay at home mom? I was just curious to know a little more about her.

i don't know and i really don't think we should ask. michael's family is his own private business and not open for discussion on this site, IMHO.

I'm with you there Piglet, Michael's private life is private and should be respected.

I agree too, having read Michaels biography by Jonathon Margolis, I think there are many things in his family life that hed rather not discuss. Life of Michael might shed some more light on the subject, but this site is, quite rightly, not the place for that.

Pollyanna if you get hold of a copy of the book "Michael Palin" by Jonathan Margolis there's some info on Helen and how they met..it's a nice story :)..oh and there's a lovely pic of Mr and Mrs Palin too...enjoy!

Oh btw..why is this site so aggressive these days? Seemed like an innocent enough enquiry to me!

I don't know much about Helen except that she and michael were childhood sweethearts and dated when they were teenagers. I wont say anything else for fear of retribution! (Though actually this information came from michaels lips in an interview and is free for anybody to know)

Thats really sweet they were childhood sweethearts..i never knew...i dont want to come across as moody at you beccles as i mean this in the nicest way possible.. its only natural that you have an interest in the life behind the man and what made him the person he is today~but i think it is best that we dont discuss this on the site just out of his respect for his family and his privacy. I think you may have some questions answered by finding a book on the subject..

LoL i bet you wished you never asked!!
:-)

Michael recently thanked Helen ( his wife ) for her support on an award evening - think it was the special award for the BAFTA and he said that they had recently celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary - congratulations to both of them
