Buy A Goat - Farm Africa - Michael is the Patron! by Diamond on 3 May 2005 1:36pm

Well the other day i was with my friend when the post arrived through her door -OOOOH she says I have had a letter from Michael Palin - WHO WHAT WHY!! I cry - well says my friend - he has written on behalf of Farm Africa - so here is the letter in parts ok

for the full info go to
www.farmafrica.org.uk

Dear >>>>>>>>

I am writing to ask you to do somehting rather peculiar - BUY A GOAT.

I know this sounds a stargne request but your goat could transform the life of a poor family in Ethiopia, as i discovered for myself while i was filming Pole to Pole there. That was when i met Farm Africa for the first time.

This scheme works in a wonderfully simple way - and is incredibly effective. A family with no livestock and little land is loaned a goat. Before long, the goat is providing nutritious milk for he children and what milk they dont drink is sold immediately boositng the family's income, when he goat has kids then one is taken to repay Farm Africa while the others are used to buy things the family needs such as seeds etc or they can buy books and pens so the children can go to school or medicine.

Will you give £27 to buy a goat that could transform the life of a poor family?

etc etc

Yours

Michael Palin
Patron

If you go to www.farmafrica.org.uk you then click on the FARM FRIENDS logo on the right of the screen and there you can buy any type of farm animal to help out if you would like to - even a "dickerel" or two??!!

I hope to send some money in and help out - thanks michael for bringing this to my attention - we are so lucky here in the UK with computers and the internet that we can sometimes take our lives for granted without realising

anyway just thought i would let you know about this appeal as it is michael related and you can make up your own mind if you want to help out or not

Peace and chocolate

I bought a goat to keep the grass down in my garden. Sadly she only ate weeds and the bark from the trees leaving the grass to grow pampas style. Nevertheless, we loved her and kept her as a family pet until she passed away. I'll never forget her wandering through the house when she got off her tether.

Think I'll buy an African Goat in her memory.

I really really support this. I used to work for FARM-Africa for 4 years so know how well this system works and that it really does make a difference to poor people's lives. This is also how I have managed to meet Micheal a couple of times through his sponsorship.
So do go ahead, believe what he says, support FARM-Africa and tell your friends.

(Oh and I had a very nice time in France too and glad to see the site back to normal)
