The Chatter Box : Blathering On

That Morning by perfectbitch on 12 July 2005 6:42pm

Woke up with a howling head,
Brain still addled, legs like lead,
Coffee called me out of bed
That morning

Smiled at recall of the news.
Fireworks, fun and TV crews
Never thought the French would lose,
That morning

An hour later, on my way,
Aboard the bus, heard someone say,
"Power surge, a huge delay1"
That morning

Motion ceased at half-past nine.
Traffic jammed in long hard line.
Stuck outside a shop of pine,
That morning

Air alive with ringing tones,
Ears pressed against the mobile phones.
Reactions chilled me to the bones
That morning

Cacophaby of noise and fuss,
"I must stay calm, I must be suss,
I simply must get off this bus.
That morning

Made my way along the street.
Saw faces turn white as a sheet.
Something's uo and not so sweet
That morning

Explosions on a full tube train.
London under fire again.
This world of ours gone quite insane
That morning

And really, what does this achieve?
No rationale could I believe.
Far too many left to grieve
That morning.

Thats very good Linz. Who would have thought this would happen when Susan and I met you a few weeks ago, just a mile or so away.

Re: That Morning by perfectbitch on 13 July 2005 7:19pm

Thank-you Jim. I was thinking about that evening as it happens when the muse took me. I was thinking how lucky Susan was to have escaped an event which could have marred her visit. A friend of mine was on the following train at Aldgate and was very disturbed by the sight of some police running away from the scene, all covered in blood. We'll have to be careful and vigilant.
