Futurama returns? by voxpops on 5 January 2006 4:09am

There is talk about giving the great cartoon Futurama a Family Guy-type of revival. Is anybody else excitied about this. Because of great DVD sales and great ratings for the reruns, the suits at Fox are reconsidering this show's cancellation. It's not a done deal yet, but I remain hopeful. Any Palinites fans of this show?

I think the simpsons was better than Futurama until maybe season 9...I think it's now in it's 17th season, and I might say an unecessary season at that.

Anyhow, I never got into futurama, but the few times I've seen it it's been good for a laugh.

I think the reason it went off the air is because it aired at 7:00 p.m. Sunday night, which meant that it was often not seen on the east-coast due to (Yankee) football. Hopefully the suits will give it a second chance!

Loved Futurama! I have all the DVD sets but like Sophie, I'm a Simpsons fan through and through. Futurama was a breath of fresh air though, I'd be curious to see if they end up bringing it back.
When it was on TV here though, it was initally shown during the summer during prime time but then got bumped back to irregular midnight screenings! Channel 10 now has the rights to show it again and it's been repeated at a sensible hour now, but I can't help but feel it's a bit late.
The cancelled, so I was told, because it was too expensive to fund, as it new 3D animation technology but I think Fox never really got the concept of the show at all.

From DVDreview.com:

Futurama times Four!

Long has been the word that the short-lived animated sci-fi comedy Futurama would receive fresh life in the form of a full length movie. News comes today from series producer David X. Cohen that Twentieth Century Fox has not greenlit one movie, but four. Production begins in August on the upcoming movies.

^^ I prefer Futurama to the Simpsons, and it's currently out-performing the Simpsons here in Australia.
I find the Star Trek references fly harder and faster, and the humour is a little different. It's a primetime show now.
