Playing Michael's UK DVDs in the USA by Toubab on 12 January 2006 9:06pm

Hi All,

Does anyone have a solution for this?

I sent a copy of Michael's Sahara DVD to a friend in the States for Xmas.

She can view it on her laptop's DVD player but is unable to play it on her home DVD player, to share the experience with her friends, because it is in UK's 2+4 PAL format.

Surprisingly, her local video shops Borders and Blockbuster, say it is listed as not yet released in the States !!

Anyway around her problem please ? And Michael, if it really is not available in the States, I suggest you organise its release ASAP and will happily accept a 10% commission on its sales for suggesting it !! ;-))

Cheers

There are plenty of sites on the Net which enable one to change regions on DVD players by means of a fiddle with the remote control. Have her look up her model :)

Many thanks Blasi by Toubab on 13 January 2006 11:47am

I shall do just that :-))

I typed this out for someone who wanted to change the region of their DVD drive. If you have a DVD drive on your PC just follow the instructions below and you can't go wrong.

How to change the region on your DVD drive
in Windows XP.

1. After Windows has started up, click on the Start button
2. Having done that, go to Control Panel and click on it
3. Once you are in Control Panel, click on System
4. Once you are in System, click on Device Manager
5. Once you are in Device Manager, click on DVD/CD-ROM Drives
6. Once you are in DVD/CD-ROM Drives, click on your DVD drive
7. Once you have done that, click on DVD Region
8. Once you have clicked on DVD Region, making sure that the non-region DVD is in the drive, select the DVD region that you need, but beware you can only change the DVD region on your PC a maximum of 4 times and then it will lock the region, you can change your DVD drive and it won’t make a difference, so please exercise caution when doing this.

Hope this helps
Bruce.

Many thanks Bruce,

I am sure your detailed and useful instructions will be of great help to many .. but my friend's problem is with her TV. She has already been able to change the region on her computer's DVD payer to view it on there .. but I am sure she does not know she can only do this 4 times, without creating a permanent problem.

I will pass this warning on to her with thanks again.

It now seems her particular model of TV a PV-DF2035 (a dreaded TV/VCR/DVD Combination) is unable to be changed to play this particular type of DVD.

Cheers
