Rude words by RichB on 7 March 2003 5:39pm
Having just replied to the 'Familiar Face' thread about Graham Han..... I noticed upon submission, the last part of his name was missing, as you can probably see above. The last part is spelt c-o-c-k if you didn't already know. Now I know I've been working away a bit recently but I didn't know the Webmaster had censored some words. I just thought it seemed a little strange in that instance. I didn't think the Palinites were uncouth enough to post expletives on this page, just shows what Webmaster thinks about us.

Personally I think that censoring a poor guys name is going over the top. That kind of behaviour just leads to bullying and isn't that worse than the odd bit of swearing anyway?
I mean, where I used to live in the Lake District is a lovely little town called ....ermouth. It would be unfair to deny the thousands of people who live there the right to say they do so. That is getting into political oppression.
I wonder if it was done for legal reasons.

I guess its because we have some young ones on here but I mean ,we don't post anything that I would concider worth censoring I mean these young ones watch Monty Python I think they can handle anything we say were not vuler or anything

Surely if those letters were part of someone's name, they would not be deleted!

Amelia, try typing those letters in someone's name and see what happens.

Obviously no one was paying attention when I mentioned this a couple weeks ago. ;O)

It doesn't matter in what context the word is used, the site or chatroom will immediately censor it - automatically, as Jake said. I'm not upset so much as amused by it.
