Which Palin Journey would you go on? by Caty on 28 January 2007 6:06am

I know this has probably been asked before, but which Palin journey would you all most like to go on yourselves?

I've only read Around The World in 80 Days so far, but I've looked at the 3D globes of some of his other journeys, and so far 80 days seems the most appealing to me. However, I doubt I would limit myself to just 80 days, for, much UN-like Phileas Fogg, I'm quite the sight-seer! I plan on saving up my money and actually taking this trip someday!

I also am going to visit the castles where Monty Python and the Holy Grail was shot... but that's a whole other adventure! haha!

Oh, crap! It's so hard to choose! But I'd say either Pole To Pole or Sahara.

Haha, me too! Ever since I read an article in the newspaper a few years ago about Doune Castle(where most of the movie was shot)I've wanted to go.

A dead heat between Full Circle and Pole to Pole. My favorite Palin Moment was seeing him face down in the Turkish bath. That, and so many other experiences I'll never have, like riding the train through The Sudan or singing with the Russian Navy Choir.

Fairygirl, have you seen the Bonus featurette on the Holy Grail DVD where Palin and Terry Jones go back and visit the castles in like 2003? If you haven't you must see it, it will make you want to visit even more!! In the featurette, they even show people gallopping around Doune Castle with 2 empty coconut halves!! lol

Anyway, Himalaya seems to be a popular choice... I'm reading Pole to Pole now, but I think I'll read Himalaya next!!

I have...got the Grail DVD for Christmas a few years ago and really liked it. I love when Michael and Jonesy play with the coconuts in the gift shop, haha.

Himalaya's a good read and the photographs are beautiful. At first I didn't like it(it was my least favorite journey), but after seeing the series I did.
