Kisch, ducks, I AM sorry about Russia. But I remember how 'picturesque' you were in describing their talents when we met.

But I hope you're enjoying the football as football, if you see what I mean.

Italy-France: Nederlands-Romania

I'll have them both on with picture in picture, but my brain has to work so hard it's difficult to really enjoy it twice as much.

I dunno who won on Monday night (16th) but a load of antisocial nutters were driving round my area hooting their car horns for about 20 minutes - Italy, perhaps?

A bit late now I know but I only got back from Turkey this morning.

When Turkey beat the Czech Republic everyone went bananas! People drove round the streets pipping their horns for hours and there were fireworks.

C'mon Turkey !!!!

yes, weocome back, Anne - your football experience sounds like when Greece won a cup last time: police closed one of our town centres while the locals celebrated.

Quite glad I don't live in earshot, though!

Thanx Mike and Linda.

Yeah they always do that when there is a big match or whatever.

I quite like it in a mad way.

More irritating (in a way) was the fact that we had our street closed by a 'snip'/wedding party on Saturday. They put a huge tarpaulin up over the street by our block and had music and the koran being read from about 8 a.m. We had not got in until 5 a.m. (ahem) so were hoping for a lie-in!

They had been preparing the food the night before but we didnt know what was happening until the following morning!

It was the first time we had seen one in the street - we have been to weddings before and a 'snip' but they have all been, well, richer families and have been held in hotels. Usually they are separate events but we saw the boy who'd had (or was going to have) the snip in his traditional outfit and later saw the bride.

Soooo, it was all interesting (except we couldn't see much because of the tarpaulin (to act a sun shade I guess))and I respect their right to hold a party - but why oh why was it the morning I needed sleep?!!! Normally they will come round the neighbours at times like these and share out the food but they didnt come to us!!
