That's lovely. Kevin didn't think I would want to keep the pictures of Sean's scan, so he threw them out!! I was so sad!! :(
Save those pictures!!!!

The good thing from my point of view, is that we didn't get to find out the sex of the child. Apparently it's against hospital/NHS trust policy to do so.
I suppose she could get another scan done privately for that purpose but as she'd be looking at me to pay for it, that's not going to happen.
I know it's a personal thing but I can't understand anyone wanting to know the sex of their unborn child unless it's for medical reasons.

I needed the surprise at the end to be honest about it.

I spoke to Sophie (our granddaughter) last night and she DOES know the sex of her baby due on February 3rd 2011.

She wanted to know, for some reason.

When I had our youngest, Simon, in the pre-scan era of 1975, I had to have an amniocentesis test for a reason I've forgotten (NOT because I was an 'older' Mom (I was 22)!) and they asked if we wanted to know the sex. We said no. Yes it makes life convenient (you know what colour to paint the nursery/buy clothes in) but it is lovely to find out when they arrive.

(It's a BOY, so, all being well, she'll have one of each).

:)

I found out what my 2nd and 3rd kids were.....the need to know was overwhelming and I didn't regret for one second finding out.

Johnny, sorry--I didn't know Trevor and Tristan could get a kid beaten up over there. 0_0.
Here in the US, it just means at least one parent is too artsy for his or her own good sometimes;).

How about Alexander? Alex if he becomes a barrister, Al if he goes into trades, and Xander if he becomes an artist? Make it clear, though, that if he goes into the sex industry he's on his own. ;)

I DO quite like Alfie (biased? me?!!).

His Bobba (Granddad) called him Alf the other day and our son said 'Noooo! Not Alf, that's old fashioned!! It's Alfie!!'

:D

Alfie is fine Anne although Alf would remind our generation of Alf Garnett !

Fran, there are names that we the Scots really would consider naff but the English would find OK. ( well, they're English. )

Reminds ME of Sir Alf Ramsey!!! In fact, Zak and I originally thought Simon had named Alfie after him (though he was FAR too young to remember 1966 - he was -9!!)!

Oh, sorry - you're Scottish aren't you hee hee.

:P

I prefer to remember 1967 at Wembley when we made the alleged world champions looks like fools.

Still, I wouldn't want my grandson named Jim ( Baxter ).
