Mine is a SIM only deal Pete. My girls probably pay about £30+ a month for deals that include a 'free' smartphone.
The minimum contract could be 18 to 24 months.

They call it pre-paid, here. When I don't need it I'll put it away until I do. I do find texting quite a potentially useful communication tool, but not everyone is connected so the value is limited.

My wife bought me a mobile phone about 6 months ago. After reading this topic I'm glad to say it is still in her handbag! At least she's got a spare if her own goes faulty.

Pete I had a Motorola touch screen which had a mind of it's own. It would call abs text people if it's own accord all the time, sometimes at 2 or3am. I hated it, it was always crashing as well. I now have one of the new HTC smartphones, it is brilliant.

I'm getting competent with my LG smartphone, although I haven't tried going head-head with it using online stuff. I only need phone and text and I've found it most useful.

Too bad I won't need it when I'm not on the road and think it an extravagance at the monthly rate.
