I watched Cameron McNeish' The Adventure Show 2015 Roads Less Travelled The West Highlands the other day. I got a good look at what you've mentioned...walking on these hills. Nice, open views and ability to walk virtually anywhere. He rode his bicycle and paddled his inflatable, too. Two episodes, outlined below:

1) Luing to Arisaig
Cameron's journey starts 20 miles south of Oban. He visits three stunning but lesser-known islands, explores the grandeur of Glencoe and the rugged Moidart Peninsula, before taking to the water at Arisaig for a paddle round the dozens of skerries that make this part of the west coast so distinctive. Along the way he meets a variety of guests, who share their intimate knowledge of this landscape with him.

2) Skye to Ullapool
Continuing his journey north, Cameron's route takes in a succession of dramatic landscapes - the sheer grandeur of the Kintail mountains, the magnificent coastline around Torridon, the beauty and mystery of Loch Maree and the isolated Melvaig Peninsula - before journey's end high above Ullapool.

I've been organizing my retirement finances and am pleased to say that everything is looking good for my 65th birthday.

On a regular walk I do on the Fife Coastal Path I got a great photograph on Monday of a smaller bay in Dalgety Bay and was so pleased with it I sent it to the local newspaper for their Image of the Week page. It has a few focal points. Down left of centre is the light golden sand. Left foreground are the shore rocks. Centre right is the semicircle of reflective sea with a dog in the near water's edge. Horizon line is clumps of trees/shrubs with the highest clump left of centre. Sky is blue with fluffy white clouds. Most blue is top centre and right of top centre. Bottom left is seaweed. Centre left is foreshore detail. The sun is medium low outside the right of the photograph.

Excellent, Ken, I wish you the best with what you want to do in retirement.

Thanks tucsonmike. My photo got published, the biggest of 4 on the page but not twice as big as any of the others! - see LT's texan farmer joke in the joke book.

I got lucky with another photograph, in the back garden this time. I noticed a butterfly on the buddleia, (or similar shrub) and when I saw it a second time I took the camera to go butterfly chasing. The butterfly had gone but I managed to get two honey bees? on one flower head of the plant. The flower head is lots of very tiny light blue blooms and the bees were diagonally opposite one another on the bloom. The photo was so sharp you could see the lines in one of the bee's wings and almost see the individual dots in the other one's eye. This after significant cropping. It has been sent to the local newspaper for their Image of the Week page.
