Handy tips! by ev on 19 March 2007 5:13pm

I've been inspired to start this thread by Johnnythemonkey's handy tip:

"Handy tip! (I'm turning this into a DIY site.)
If you ever have to move a washing machine (alright not a daily chore);see those little rubber feet at the base? Well smear a little washing -up liquid on the floor on the path they will take and; Voila! it slides out no probs with no damage to the floor!"

Let's call that Handy Tip #1.

Do anybody else here have a Handy Tip?

For example, Handy Tip #2:
"When you've broken the washing machine, you can wash your undies in the sink!"

Now, Handy Tip #3?

Sorry, please see 'Top Tips!' by Lounge Trekker on 19 March 2007 6:09pm

My 'tip', originally posted here belongs in the Top Tips! thread. Sorry for wasting the bandwidth.

No, no, Ev. Sorry about that. Your Handy Tips thread appears to contain good, useful tips, Top Tips seems to be for humorous tips. I had posted a 'tip' that was nothing but comedy, and it belongs in Top Tips! I had to have some content after I moved it. I was inadvertently abusive to you and for that I apologize.

Yes, moving heavy furniture with feet. You can now get rubber coasters in hardware stores for little money which will help you pull the furniture across the floor without damage.

Or just watch DIY TV go to the website or watch umpteen Billy Mays commercials.

I do beg your pardon, I wasn't aware there is a 'Top Tips' thread.

Now you've got me confused Pete! I don't know if my last post was a handy tip or a top tip!

It's ok Lounge Trekker.. I kind of expected it to get a bit silly anyway.. :) although my intention was for it to be more along the 'practical tips' line.. oh well can't always get what you want..

Clearly some tips fall into both the Handy and Top Tips categories, such as Handy Tip #3 above.

Handy Tip #4:
Don't start a thread called 'Handy Tips' when there has already recently been a thread created titled 'Top Tip'..

Think I'll just start a thread called 'Tip Top' instead..

No Ev,this thread should be left for what you intended. Practical tips or asking advice on such things
