Omg, yes. I was sitting there watching "Oprah" and minding my own business when it came on channel 7 as breaking news. Really scary. For some reason I felt great sadness about the incident. It's certainly frightening and I suspect it's to do with the government there. I mean, the election was in a few days and it was looking as though she would win...come on! It's a sad day. |

A sad day for Pakistan, for democracy and for the world. But certainly not unexpected. She was an amazingly brave woman. |

At the risk of stating the obvious, security should have been much tighter. She was indeed a brave woman. |

I posted on BBC's Have Your Say that it was not unexpected. Mr. P implied in Himalaya that the military is the only thing keeping Pakistan from teetering over the abyss.

I feel that in the US media coverage & "talking head" discussion, a lot of ststements have been made to the effect that Bhutto did something wrong somehow and contributed to her own assasination.
I wonder, if one of our candidates for President was attacked, would we repeatedly say, "Well, they shouldn't have been out in public. They shouldn't have been out in the open."
It's getting under my skin a bit.
Anyway, I am more touched by this than expected. When I was a teenager, Lech Walesa was a hero to me, and I followed the Solidarity movement story. When he went missing in Nov-Dec '81 it was very upsetting to me.
I feel that Bhutto was doing the same for her country, putting herself out there to be the figurehead, to give people hope and momentum. She was financially privelaged and a mother, so she had a LOT to lose. Still, her nation and the people of her nation were this important to her. Very heroic. |

She was amazing, and extremely brave, knowing that her assassination was almost certain at some point.
Today they're trying to say that she wasn't shot, that she hit her head on ther sunroof of her car while trying to dodge gunfire.
Hmmmm. |

Either way.....standing up through the sun roof of her bullet-proof car, was'nt the brightest idea ever. |
