I've found out that Meg may have some French ancestors....still checking.
No offence to the French but I'd be horrified if that were the case.
I am descended from the McDonalds of Glencoe and my bloodline is 100% Scottish. A lot of you may be proud of your mongrel background but I'm proud of my heritage and hope that my daughters are the same.

You go Scot-boy! ;-)

I'm mainly English, but we had some native Americans and Irishmen in the wood pile. I wish I knew more about them--they're all part of who I am. But we have very little information. My great-grandfather came over from Ireland, but I don't know where in Ireland he was from, and nobody's left who remembers.

Hurrah for bastard mutts!

The question is, Johnny, is your heritage proud of you?
Re: Ancestry. by tucsonmike on 24 November 2008 6:53pm
LOL! Johnny, mixed marriages are going to be the way of the world. Get with the program!

My birthday present is going to be the DNA test. This should be interesting.
Yes, Judy. Hurrah for bastard mutts.

I have not shown this to Elaine yet. She is a Buchanan on her father's side.
I will have to make sure she does not pull out the claymore and claybeg.

Dunno, Ev. You'll have to poll the Clan McDonald and find out. Definitely do NOT ask any Campbells.

I think they would simply dub jtm 'Ronald McDonald', cos he's a clown.

My paternal grandfather's line came from Wiltshire. My brother is into geneology, and we should soon know if we're related to the Boleyns or simply descended from extraterrestrials.

Ah, Johnny, don't cha know the best foods have more than one ingredient! And the French are good cooks!

I'm: 1/4 Scotch-Irish, 1/4 Welsh, and the rest is mostly English with a touch of Hungarian for spice. We've been over here for quite some time :D
Re: Ancestry. by ev on 24 November 2008 11:24pm
My grandparents: 2 x Welsh, 1 x Swiss, 1 x English
Re: Ancestry. by mrsthing on 25 November 2008 2:07am
Somebody in my family did a geneology. It was 50 or so pages long, and traced the line back before Christ! Apparently, we're related to King Caractacus of England, Jefferson Davis, and a bunch of other lowlifes and no-accounts. She never found out about the indians, though, and I know there are some on both sides of my family, though is 4 or more generations back.

I think we're supposed to be related to the bastard of a Hungarian king who had to flee persecution :D
