"Palin" station in Myanmar by Roni on 26 March 2009 8:09am

Hi,

I found this in a trip report on a German railway forum:

Could be a future travel destination for Michael... ;-)

Greetings,
Roni

Maybe Mr. P can win the Nobel Peace Prize then and save the Burmese Peace Price winner, who is under permanent house arrest.

She can only redecorate and clean so many times. If she works on the outside of the house, can she be taken to jail?

Palinrail. Has a ring to it.
Sorry, I am being sarcastic this morning.

Hi,

Well, sure, but if you don't want to visit countries like that, Michael definitely shouldn't have visited quite a few he did in the past.
The regime in such a country is definitely one side of the coin, but meeting actual people there has usually nothing to do with it und is often a very friendly experience. Why should you ignore millions of people just because of a few idiots who oppress them?
Apart from that, a nobel prize winner under house arrest definitely isn't the biggest current problem in Myanmar, given the fact that a Taifun devastated a lot of the countryside and the government did next to nothing to help the people there.

Greetings,
Roni
