The Chatter Box : Blathering On

Shall I? by kazzzz on 15 April 2009 1:49am

Today is quite windy and a top of 18 degrees and showery. I had my heart set on taking Ava to a nearby wildlife park, I figure we can rug up and put our boots on (coz it'll be muddy) and go and see a huge array of native wildlife. On the other hand it'll be wet and sludgy and I don't want her catching a cold or anything. BUT with the cooler weather it'll be a lot less crowded. What shall I do???
Answers on a postcard please, and in the next ten minutes, preferably :)

OK! So I am writing this on...OK, no postcard...I'll just lick the stamp...yeesh, no stamp. How about I just stick out my tongue and say, "Yeah! Just do it. Take the babe to the zoo, have a great time, hold her close, keep her warm and dry, and take lots of pictures!"

It was a recorded high of 14 here and I still spent three hours without a shirt.

...I always suspected Pete was a card-carrying Communist..I think Joe McCarthy should be informed immediately of his outside extra-curricular activities!! :+)

kazzzz: see nice pictures of the pelicans at Adelaide zoo on:

Tom Paxton wrote a children's song I have always had affection for; it was recorded by trio Peter,Paul and Mary, and titled: "Going To The Zoo",viz:

Mummmy's taking us to the zoo tomorrow
Zoo tomorrow,zoo tomorrow
Mummy's taking us to the zoo tomorrow
We can stay all day

We're going to the zoo,zoo,zoo,
How about you,you,you ?
You can come too,too,too,
We're going to the zoo,zoo,zoo...(**)

If you substitute 'wildlife park' for 'zoo',it doesn't quite scan so good!
But yeah,if you wrap up warm you should be okay,I reckon.

(**)--etc./various zoo animals are featured in the verses)

Your child and your inner-child need to go play in the dirt. Go for it!

Well we did:)
Had a great day, it was cold and a bit muddy but less crowded. Ava got to see heaps of animals, including standing in amongst 6 pelicans (you could hardly see her lol) and cuddling a wallaby. It was such a placid little thing, didn't mind at all that we used it for an anatony lesson, pointing out ears and eyes and nose and tail:)
We also got to see a Tassie devil being fed as well as seeing a very big monitor lizard climb a waterfall. This animal sanctuary is kind of open range, lots of animals aren't enclosed and the ones that are have huge areas with fences that blend in . It's very bushy and peaceful and my absolute favourite place in Australia.

Sounds terrific, Kazzz & so glad you all enjoyed your day : wish I could have been there seeing the marvellous animals myself!
