20 Years of Travelling, 40 Years of Jokes by suzulu on 27 June 2009 5:04pm

I went to this last night at the Indigo at the O2. Michael was brilliant, very entertaining as usual. The first half of the show was talk and photos of his travels and the second half his time with Monty Python, Ripping Yarns, etc.

Sanjeev Bhaskar (actor/comedian) introduced him and also talked about the charity. He and his wife Meera Syal were sitting two rows in front of me for the first half of the show.

I met up very briefly with Kisch and Katia from Russia. I was sorry that I didn't spend more time with them. Kisch went to the after show party and met Michael and got a hug too!

Ohh you lucky gal! I would have LOVED to have heard some Ripping Yarns anecdotes, what did he say?
AND hooking up with other Palinites sitting near Sanjeev! What an ace night!

Kazzzz, I can't remember at the moment his anecdotes about Ripping Yarns - bits will probably come back to me now and again. My memory is appalling!

He talked about the filming of The Holy Grail and how they got students to be soldiers, dressed them up in rags because that's all they had to dress them in.

He also read from Dr. Fegg's Encyclopaedia of All World Knowledge (the part which is a take on of the Famous Five), and from one of Graham Chapman's books about a time when he was drunk and staying in a hotel. That was SO funny!

The charity did well as there was a full house.

Hi there...I just saw this thread. Suz, how lucky to have been there, it sounds like a fabulous night :) How did you meet up with Kisch and Katia ? Have you met them before at other MP evenings ?

Hello everybody, and a special hello to Sue - I tried to catch you at the exit, but... :-(

Having met Michael three times in the past 1.5 years, I did not go to the afterparty as it would have been too extravagant for my finances after 2 months in the UK... So I am happy for Kisch as it was her first time. *Really* :-)

Now, I had my treat the night before (well, Kisch as well!!) - we met the gorgeous one, Mr.Cleese... that astonishing fact still kind of has not completely sunk in... bought copies of Fawlty Towers beforehand to get them signed... aah.... those eyes!!!

Rox, to your question: I did meet Suzulu a year ago at Michael's Hammershoi event at the RAA. Shame we never got to talking this time. Hello Sue, hope to see you soon again.

Thanks for your attention,
Cheers,
Katia

Hello, Katia! I did look for you at the end, went up to the bar at the top but you must have already left. Hope to see you at another event. I had a few words with Kisch before she went to the party. Glad you meet Mr. Cleese!

Rox, I also met up with Kisch in November for Michael's talk for the Campaign for Better Transport.
