newbie - blathering and trip by knittinghabit on 8 July 2009 4:23pm

My apologies but I must blather then I'll be done. Love Michael, and have all the videos, books etc. and must say the audio books are great to garden with. I am planning a road trip looping in the Canadian west in late July, 8000 km in 13 days (all driving to be done by me) with my teenage son. This is a small trip in comparison to all Micheal's travels but I was hoping that if I share it with you all (and by an unbelievable miracle maybe Michael), it could give us a bit of luck. It'll be a test as we haven't traveled this far ever. I will update once it is done so wish us luck (in my old car)!

Aaah, I have always dreamed to go to Canada!!!

Though it is not too late yet for me (I'm only 22...!)

I'll be glad to follow your adventures in the Far (North) West!

It sounds like a lot of fun and I know the great outdoors will be refreshing and relaxing. Just my speed! Enjoy it!

I'd love to hear about your trip, knittinghabit! I've never been to Canada or the west coast and am hoping to do that some day.

Are you going to stay awake for thirteen days ? Cos if your going to drive 8,000km and have a kip at night, the only views you'll get of Canada will be through a car windscreen. I suggest you should scale the travel down and take time to enjoy the places you visit.
Have a good and safe trip.

Well, we do know it will be a challenge. Some days will be more driving than others given the terrain and what we want to see. A good part will be wheat fields and forest of course. We'll leave early and sleep early, we won't be burning our daylight away! It's our only major adventure we will have together and as my son says "It'll be EPIC!"

How old is your teenage son? It's a beautiful thing for a son to be excited about a vacation with his Mom. Kids usually want to be so independent.
