Adverts You Hate?? by Spursfan2 on 5 August 2011 5:00pm

Which ads cause you to throw something at the TV (or nearly)?

I usually like the ads, a lot are well made. But a few ANNOY me!! These are currently:

"I wanna buy your house riiiiight now!! It really grates on me!! TAKE IT OFF RIIIIIIGHT NOOOOOWW!!

Jammie/Toffee Dodgers - no I LOVE the bikkies, but I find the advert (with has monkeys that have biscuits for heads) creepy!!

And I don't like NSPCC ones, or African aid type ones or animal cruelty ones - but that is because they pull the heart strings!!

There are some really annoying and just plain weird infomercials here in the States. One that really bothers me is the Snuggie commercial. Okay, one thing straight (and if any of you have one, I apologize), there's really no point to them. At all. Yeah, sure, it's a blanket with sleeves, but in my eyes, they look like cult robes! When I first saw them that's what I immediately thought.

All in all, those adverts really bother me.

And I defo agree with the animal cruelty ones, they just break my heart!

I have one!! (Shuggie - though that's not what we call them!). It was free when I ordered some clothes from a catalogue. And it is great when I am lying on top of the bed in the winter, not feeling well but not wanting to actually get IN bed. Tosun likes to snuggle underneath it!!

Oh and one thing that was actually a great buy (well 2 actually as we have one each) a few years ago were upside-down V-shaped cushions for when you are sitting up in bed reading or watching TV. They are so comfy and support my shoulders just right when they ache (aching muscles are part of this illness).

Any that try to sell stuff you have absolutely no need for. For me that's most of them.

Ones that arrive as junk mail. If you add up all the time it takes you to pick it up, decide you don't want it, then throw it in the bin then I'm sure a lot of us have a fair chunk of our lives taken up with junk mail.

Some adverts try to sell me stuff I don't wan't but are well produced, interesting or funny so I don't mind those so much.

And like Spursfan, I don't like the ones that try to prick your conscience by showing pictures of deformed children or mistreated animals. That's very unpleasant.

There's one advert I find hilarious, it's called the Hawaii Chair or Hula Chair or Something Chair. I'm not gonna say anything else. Just type in 'Hawaii Chair' on YouTube or Google and see for yourself.
