Smoking ! by johnnyBgood! on 8 June 2012 5:49am
Mine has got beyond a joke. Meg's friend brought me 400 from Hungary last week for a good price. I gave 100 of them to Annmarie but I've smoked the other 300 in six days. Meg thought that they'd last me for almost a month. :(

You don't need me to tell you that that is an average of 50 per day!! FAR too much!!

Get some patches/gum and potter along to your nearest Smoking Cessation Clinic. NOW!!

You really don't want me to start nagging you about giving it up. I mean it.

When I'm not stressed, I can get by on 20 a day as I have done for 40 years.

I've only had 3 attempts at giving them up, which lasted 18 months, 30 months and 11 months.

I always said that I would never give them up just because of the price but now that I'm living on a company pension, I really can't afford to spend a huge chunk of income on cigs ! I'd have no money left for vodka. ;)

I don't and haven't ever SERIOUSLY smoked (straights lol). When I was about 17 I had a thing about smoking cigarettes such as French, Turkish (ironically!), but absolutely LOVED Sobranie blacks and Sobranie Cocktail cigarettes. Soooo sophisticated!!

The Turkish cigs were an oval shape, rather than round (and no, I hadn't sat on them hahaha) and my work collegaues thought they smelled like old socks!! I have seen Turkish cigs in Turkey (very mild apparently) and have never seen these ones. Their cigs look the same as ours.

Zak gave up smoking about 3 years ago.

I haven't checked the link yet Anne as I remember Sobranie quite well. Yes, the height of sophistication ! I now smoke JPS, which are about £1.20 cheaper than my usual brand (Regal), which are now about £7.50 a pack ! My first wage was only about £14.

I can remember smoking No 6 and collecting the coupons!!

When I was about 16, my parents decided to use reverse psychology on me, and bought me a dinky lighter, ashtray and turned a blind eye to me smoking (they knew that usually if they said one thing I would do another).

Didn't work, though I admit it was less 'exciting'!! Didn't get hooked though so can't have been inhaling properly!

I remember my Dad smoked Senior Service when I was little, but he had to give it up as he had chronic bronchitus.

Lol Anne, you've brought back old memories. I'd forgotten about No 6 and my dad used to smoke Senior Service or Capstan. I seen a guy smoking Capstan Full Strength recently, which I thought had long gone. I think they cost over £8 a pack !

Can you remember Bristol ? The most harmful thing to your lungs with them was just trying to get a draw from them ! I used to buy them when I was young, as they were about the last brand to be sold in packs of 5.
Re: Smoking ! by Spursfan2 on 9 June 2012 5:05pm
No can't remember them.

You must be older than you think you are.

Dear oh Dear JBG, You Know its not good, STOP IT, read my next post...
Re: Smoking ! by johnnyBgood! on 9 June 2012 9:08pm
I've replied to your other post John. If I can get 6 months off the vodka, I'll try to give up the cigs.
I've been lucky with my health for someone of 54 but I can't keep pushing my luck.

LOL Anne. Although Zak's a bit older than me, I bet he can remember 5 packs of Bristol !
