Stop drinking alcohol and smoking for good and you'll have a chance to get her back. End of story, John.

There is a reason why The BIG BOOK is filled with personal accounts of people overcomming their alcohol addictions John. AA works. I have seen it happen. Give it a shot and put your heart and soul into it. Listen to everything they tell you. And as simple and as stupid as this sounds, just don't take that first drink. Maybe it is time both you and Meg started a fresh. I hope this helps you. There is a rewarding and fun life without alcohol too.

Loretto, Google The Orange Papers for another view on AA.

Will do. Maybe it isn't the answer for everyone, but 2 family members and a female friend of mine seem to have benefitted from it though.

You know we are all hoping you find sobriety John. The drink changes your personality and even I, your arch nemesis :-), wants to see you reunited with your family and living life without regrets.

Hopefully you will not take this as being preach, just hoping positive energy makes things better.

I found that site and well, I guess different strokes for different folks as they say.

Be well.

Loretto, you've been a good friend to me. Wee Meg showered me with love (and the odd slap) but a woman like yourself might have given me the kick in the arse that may have changed me. You've shown me kindness and tried to encourage me to write.

Kindnesses shown to me stick and I've forgiven many hurts caused to me, mentally and physically.

I still have the Christmas cards from you, Fran and my dear friend Karen. That eejit Wheelnut hasn't sent me one yet ;)

Anne has been exceptionally kind to me and for those of you that haven't spoken to her, she has such a sweet and young voice.

All 'my girls' on this great site have been wonderful to me. There are few guys here but they have also been great to me after they'd seen through my barriers.

Love to you all xxxxx
