Desert Island Discs by Palinite14 on 17 March 2004 2:05pm
I keep starting threads like this. If you were stranded on a desert island for the rest of your life, which 10-12 records would you take with you? I know it's not original. My Desert Island Discs are as follows...

1)"Jerusalem" (William Blake?) sung by a wonderful choir in a huge cathedral with a giant organ.
2)"Come What May" from the film Moulin Rouge, performed by Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor.
3) "I'll Be There For You" (theme song from Friends :D) sung by The Rembrandts
4) "Poison" performed by Alice Cooper
5) "Summertime" by George and Ira Gershwin, sung by Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald
6)"Shuukyou" sung by Shiina Ringo (Japanese rock)
7)"Let's Do It" by Cole Porter, sung by Ella Fitzgerald
8) The theme from "You Only Live Twice" by John Barry
9)The theme from "Educating Rita" played on a huge church organ and not a little electric synthesiser organ as it is in the film (although this is not bad)
10)"Suzanne" by Leonard Cohen
11)"What A Wonderful World" performed by Louis Armstrong

And the book would probably be 'Brendon Chase' by BB. If you haven't read it then READ IT it is BEAUTIFUL!!

In no particular order:

1)Rockin' All over the world -Status Quo
2)I'm Alive -Celine Dion
3)Fools Rush in -Elvis
4)Iris -Goo Goo Dolls
5)I wanna dance with somebody -Whitney Houston
6)Mysterious Girl -Peter Andre
7)Breathless -The Corrs
8)She -Elvis Costello
9)Come on Eileen -someone
10)Edge of Seventeen -Stevie Nicks
11)Growing on me -The Darkness
12)Ride a White Swan -TRex

I love all these songs to death, lol! And my book would be Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix -so long you read to the end, forget what happened in the beginning and start ALL OVER AGAIN! :D and i just love Harry Potter. So shoot me, lol!

Ok, by no means a complete list (remember I'm a bassist, ie musician, ie has an extensive collection) of my favourite albums (you never were specific on the single/album thing):

1)"One Perfect Day" soundtrack

2)"Parachutes" by Coldplay

3)"A Rush Of Blood To The Head" by Coldplay

4)"Echoes, best of Pink Floyd", by Pink Floyd

5)"Led Zepplin 3", by Led Zep

6)"Remasters" by led Zep

7)"Greatest Hits v.1" by Queen

8)"Jaco Pastorius", by Jaco

9)"Moulin Rouge" soundtrack

10)"Try Whistling This" by Neil Finn

11)"Come Away With Me", by Norah Jones, and finally

12) "Streaker" by Tony's Fault (unreleased, but will hopefully be recorded before I get deserted somewhere =D)

So there. There are many more, but I'm only allowed 12.

Also, my book would either be the python auto, or a photo album of me and my life. Haha! I cheated...

Re: Desert Island Discs by irishmanufan on 18 March 2004 9:53pm
ooppsie izot the rules of desert island discks is that you are only alowed to bring singles not albums :0) (or at least any time i have heard it i never heard albums mentioned )
twosheds the version of shine on you crazy diamond i want is on the live album pulse and is a mixture of part 1 and part 2 . i also have the album wish you were here and it would be hard to choose which of the studio version of soycd to bring . the musicianship is really good . although roger waters bass can sometimes give me a headache !!!!!!!
i would also like to bring David Gilmour's version of bizet's Je Crois Entendre Encore from the opera the pearl fisher but sadly that was only relased on a dvd . he and his group of singers sing it so well . i am not an opera buff nor do i sopeak french but i know a good song when i hear one :0)
