Channel 4 have done it again by tominator_49 on 21 March 2004 2:46am

WHAT THE HELL?
Just watched channel 4's next 100 best program. The 100 best films. 100 best films my arse. My favourite films: The Lord of the Rings didn't even make an appearance. I understand people may not like the LOTR but it should have made it into the top 100! In Empire movie magazine the fellowship won the best movie ever, and that was voted by the public. Brilliant films like Terminator came in at the end, whereas the matrix came in at 15th! Yeah the 1st was a good film, but the 15th best film EVER?

Where was Resevoir Dogs, Stand By Me, Ghostbusters? And Where the hell was Back To The Future? I don't think this shows the 100 greatest films at all. I'm sure some of you have films which you feel should have been in this list. Well Done to Monty Python though!

Well done once again channel 4 for some crap T.V. What next the 100 greatest channel 4 100 greatest polls? The 100 greatest numbers? We've already had to put up with the 100 greatest movie stars, the 100 greatest musicals, the 100 greatest sexy moments, the 100 greatest scary moments, the 100 greatest kids T.V programs, 100 greatest worst pop records, 100 greatest sports moments, 100 greatest T.V. characters and T.V treats!

Give it up channel 4!

Child minding I was.. more truthfully, being neglectful und almost sleeping.

It's only television. Ah The Lord of The Rings films' really--- they are very recent, epic all that... very good adaptation of some long-time popular books. They are so recent! Hehe, it is good to gain distance from a film before judging it against an awful lot more of very old hm'proven classics'.
Noo noo those things will only ever let you down me special, because they are not made for you specifically.

Always lovley to see a bit of the old Melvyn Bragg. (I saw him once in person walking down the southbank with an elephantine rucksack. Thus, from this place onwards; began a special relation).

A Little Peter Sellers there. OH Where were Monty Python? which film?

Yeah the lord of the rings are modern. But what about the fellowship of the ring? That's 3 years old. The Matrix and Gladiator made it to the top and they're recent.

Hmmmm; The Matrix, does it need the other two films? Perhaps if your a fanatic?

The Lord of The Rings does, it's a big old trilogy, unless you're going to watch it like some bizar New-Wave Middle Earth fantasy. This is why it was not winning any Acadamy Awards before this year. I'm not sure how the voting the worked, and so all I say is terrific Guff.

Gladiator is on it's own.

Very accomplished lots of clever jiggery pokety. Not favourite films. Na sausage.

Fascinating list. Hard to quibble with any of them. Glad to see "Space Odysessy", though if your picking Stanley Kubrick films, why not "The Shining"?

This program was first shown on Channel 4 a couple of years ago which may explain the omission of LOTR.
It was good to see MP on our screens again though. Who'd have thought he would be a big fan of 'Alien' ?
And couldn't he have got a cameo in 'The Full Monty' ?
