The Chatter Box : Blathering On
Twin Peaks by finnguy on 11 January 2005 11:22pm
For Christmas I received, not one, but two copies of the Himalaya book. (I got them from my two brothers - you'd have thought they could have coordinated a little on the present front!)

Anyway, I have all of Michael's previous travel books signed in some shape or form. Knowing the unlikelihood of him doing a Himalaya signing in Helsinki, last week I wrote to him asking for a signed bookplate to stick in my copy of Himalaya. And today, just eight days after posting my letter off, I received in the post a very cool bookplate from the man himself. It reads: "To Stephen, From the Himalaya to Finland! Happy Travels! Michael Palin". How cool is that? I love the way he tries to personalise the greetings whenever he can. Anyway, tonight I retire a happy man.

(And in case you're wondering, I traded my other copy of Himalaya for 'Tintin and Alph-Art', Hergé's last unfinished adventure.)

"Finland, Finland, Finland! The country where I quite want to be..."

I think he should travel Scandinavia next: I recieved a copy of Monty Python's The Final Rip Off CD for Xmas and the Finland song is one of my favourites. ;) So you might see him after all, Stephan!
