Arizona Sonora Desert Museum by tucsonmike on 8 October 2005 4:16am

This is a major part of life in Tucson. It's called a museum, but is mostly outdoors. The museum has wildlife and plants.
I took my family friend Lizzie. Lizzie is legally blind and can't drive. At the moment, she is working as my publicist for free. She has a membership, so she could get me in for free. I drove and shelled out gas. What else can you ask for.
The docents are great and educate people about the rocks, and the dinosaur bones you can find, the reptiles, and the plants. I suggest people who come here go to the Desert Museum first before they attempt to hike. This way they learn the plants and in what kind of terrain certain animals live. For example, if you are in a desert wash near shade (especially sunrise and sunset) be careful of Javelinas. It makes your hikes here safer and more enjoyable.
It was a great day, then it was back to reality.
Check out the museum site. Let me know if you have any questions.
Mike
