Clothing for Swedish winter travel! by ian_nuttall on 8 November 2005 1:05pm

Eh up!

I'm doing my own small Palin Trek in Feb. Starting in Oslo, a night train to Stockholm and then another to Kiruna for a spot of Ice Hotel Action. Then returning to Stockholm and on to Gothenburg. I know it's going to be cold, but what sort of clothing do people reckon, as I'm only taking hand luggage! I'm thinking of snowboard trouser and thermals and a down jacket! Will this do? Thanks!

Thick socks, plus hat and thermal gloves, thick sweater. Hat or hood on jacket is important because we lose the most heat from our heads.

No, I don't live in Sweden, I live in London! But I have been to really cold places.

Well as the Scandahooligans say, 'There's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes' so I do recommend you invest in something that will really protect you. Have a look at brands like Rohan (rohan.co.uk) and North Face if you are prepared to pay a bit more for the best.
