Steelers 21-Seahawks 10. Proved to be an Interesting game with Stones perfomring at halftime.

What baffles me (actually, there's a million things that baffle me when it comes to American Football) is how they manage to stretch a quarter into lasting somewhere in the region of 45 minutes.

Advertising.

That's right! And I believe that's the main reason soccer will never be a big commercial network attraction. American football allows for advertisemetns because the clock stops and there are time outs, etc. Soccer is continuous for the most part. Of course, perhaps the advertisers and networks might agree to air the ads in one big gulp at the beginning or end of the game. Not sure how it would work otherwise.

Question 2; how many players in a squad? There looked to be about 50+ guys from each side come running out at the beginning. Why so many?

Re: Steelers Win. by George on 7 February 2006 6:16am

Not an easy question. Teams are allowed 45-48 player on their "active" squad at any one time. About six players can be can be considered "injured", but still practice, even though they cannot play in games.

But, as in any other world-class event, only the most essential players will actually participate. Still, it's still an incredible honor to be introduced as these players were, even if they don't actually play.

Yes Matron, I do have an old book from the Marylebone Cricket Club. Still don't understand most of the rules. Red balls? You mean you kick the players in the....
That hurts! And is anti social.

it means that we get red balls thrown at us by the Aussies, the Pakistani's and anyone else who thinks they're any good at cricket!
