The Chatter Box : Blathering On
Boudica by tucsonmike on 13 March 2006 3:35am
This was on History Channel Friday night. I had never known details about this British rebellion against Rome, just that she burned Colchester. The show explained how she was defeated at the Battle of Watling Street, because the Roman general Suetonius chose his battleground carefully. Boudica and her warriors outnumbered the Romans, but the battlefield was surrounded on three sides by forest. Therefore, she couldn't outflank the Romans.
It was a two hour show. Quite fascinating but with some of the theatrics, it was Boudica meets Braveheart.

How do you say her name, anyway? The Icini queen, I mean.

No one's definitively certain but the majority of historians opt for a phonetic 'Boodikka'.

Nothing wrong with it being a favorite Sarah, as long as you don't decide to burn Colchester to the ground again. That's been done!:-)
