Re: S.A.R.S Virus by t_t on 7 May 2003 2:21pm

A very close friend of mine who is a distinct doctor in one of our finest hospital of the country told me this virus is the result of an extremely hard work of scientists of Rosewell Institution - USA remember the story with aliens?). So if the virus is artificial (and it probably is), i don't think we'll get to see a vaccine soon, since it is mutating all the time and hasn't been fully marked as yet.
I hate to sound pessimistic but i'm afraid we'll get to see even worse in the future....God help us all!

I have just returned from Beijing and was amazed at all the panic throughout Europe. The people of Beijing are told very little and i could only keep updated by using the net,but it is still such a small chance of catching SARS that for a lot of people there will never be a better time to travel through Asia. I work for KLM(dutch airlines) so travelling is cheap and easy but met lots of travellers who agreed with me that it is safe, just use common sense-No buses/metro in peak hours and avoid all markets. I hope SARS will be contained soon as China is the 8 wonder of the world !
Mark.

Ok. I've been running all over Toronto lately and I'm still ok. Mind you I haven't been to the hospitals. Don't need to. But the shopping is great, and right now the deals offered are fabulous. Next weekend my husband and I are going to see Mama Mia.:)

I flew from Toronto to London and sat next to a lady who had just been at the hospital that day with her husband for some tests. She told me that they were given gowns, masks, and gloves and they also had sign in sheets that everyone that they came into contact with had to sign. She said the hospital was spotless and was glad that she had gone and seen for herself that SARS is being handled properly in Toronto.
