Re: Haunted Places by Spursfan on 12 July 2005 4:56pm

A couple of years ago, we went out for a meal with some friends of ours, and later went back to their cottage in a quiet country village. They'd bought it not long before and it was our first time there.

They told us they'd been told by others in the village that it was haunted by an old man, a farmworker I think, called Fred.

I wasn't too worried by this, as I thought of it as being a rumour and tradition, until they said that one of their children, who had been about 18 months at the time, had one day started talking to someone, who the couple couldn't see, in the living room. When they asked who she was talking to, the child said 'Fred'!!!

They hadn't spoken about this Fred in front of her or her brother.

A coincidence? I just know that I was very pleased I had gone up to use the bathroom (one of his 'haunts'!) before they told us the tale!!!
